Hello all, Thank you to those who attended my last surgery, it was good to speak to residents about their concerns. As a reminder, I advertise surgeries once per month and do my best to spread these amongst my wards at various times and days of the week. These are the best way to speak to me face to face, but for those who cannot attend them then feel free to message me on here or email me! It's continued to be busy since my last update, here are some of the things I have been dealing with: On 21/08/26, I was on the beat in my wards when I was made aware of a male in possession of various weapons threatening members of the public. I was able to be on scene within minutes where the suspect made off but was safely detained in a nearby address. I arrested the male for numerous offences. CPS authorised charges for offences including threatening with an Offensive weapon and assault on an emergency worker, and the male was remanded to prison awaiting appearance at Crown Court.My colleague and I organised a retail crime day of action following a local store being persistently targeted by thieves. This involved monitoring CCTV cameras live in store, reviewing past footage alongside security staff to identify repeat offenders, and conducting evidence capture to progress investigations. As a result of this, we were able to arrest two separate shoplifters on the same day. One of these suspects attempted to make off and when detained was found with further stolen goods on their person. Both will be charged to court.I held a well-attended street briefing on 22/08/26 to offer updates and reassurance to residents following the weapons incident on 21/08/26, as I understand this may have caused some concern in the community. On 23/08/26, whilst on foot patrol, I encountered a male seen acting in an abusive and disorderly way in front of members of the public including children. This was dealt with robustly and he was taken to custody and has since been charged with being drunk and disorderly and assault on an emergency worker. I have attended around 20 calls in support of response colleagues, including fraud incidents, domestics, and reports of suspicious events in rural areas.Whilst on patrol in the rural areas of my ward, I was made aware of a high risk domestic incident taking place nearby. I was able to attend and safeguard the victim, and took a male into custody who has now been charged and remanded to court. Finally, there has been a re-shuffle of some of the Thanet wards, and my colleague PC Howard will now be taking over Cliffsend & Pegwell. I will remain the Thanet Villages local officer, and in any case will be working alongside PC Howard so you can still expect to see me out and about! He will be in touch when he returns from leave.
